Fireplaces are permanent features of the home and the fireplace screen is a year round home accessory. The design below, built to fit perfectly in the fireplace opening, reflects the interests of the homeowner and enhances the décor of the home.
From fireplace screens to fireplace tool sets, Julia works closely with the owner to design and build iron and metal pieces that reflect their interests as well as work with the interior of the home.

This fireplace tool set, was commissioned by a Statesville couple. The client requested the tools be heavy and the holder larger than normal due to the scale of the rock fireplace in their log home.
Repetition in ironwork requires careful attention to detail. Each piece is measured and cut to length. Then a punch is used to lightly mark the piece so that the scrolls and twists occur in exactly the same place on each tool.
Once the tool set is assembled, it is cleaned with acetone and a clear wax applied. The piece is then buffed to create a hard rust resistance finish.
