Outdoors: Garden Gates
Sculptural, Moving, & Defining Spaces
Julia has always enjoyed gardening, with the natural result of bringing garden elements indoors and structural elements outdoors. Gates are particularly challenging because while they are sculptural, they move, and they define spaces within the garden. Julia built her first gate while taking a summer blacksmithing class at Penland School of Crafts in the North Carolina mountains.
